Ben Cowper, a psychiatrist at a prestigious city hospital, is stunned to learn the identity of the emergency patient he's just be assigned to treat: Harry Shapiro, a famous financier and one of the hospital's most prominent donors. But a high-profile reversal of fortune has left the one powerful investment banker jobless, bitter, and possibly desperate - judging by the pistol his wife finds him clutching.
